Chapter 2 (PCK)
This chapter was highlighted on
these issues :
- PCK is a knowledge that teacher develop over time through experience by using the particular ways to teach the content and enhanced the student for understanding.
- PCK is not the same for all teachers in a subject area , because there are many factors effect on it as context, content and experience, so it is a corner stone of teacher’s professional and expertise.
- The concept map and venn diagrams are teaching procedures for content representation and probing student’s understanding of concept. It is a way of illustrating relationships between concepts and display the misconceptions. It used for giving a feedback for learning and teaching by demonstrating the combination of content and pedagogy leads understanding in a content.
- The research on PCK tended to suggest that the finding ways was not necessarily to help teachers to improve their practice. Much time and energy with example of how teach a particular topic in particular way promote understanding.
- Because the complexity of PCK and the teachers share their Knowledge by stories, we need a language to describe and demonstrate PCK to be able to develop and apply in their own teaching and learning context. It describe as “Jargon”, for example : big idea, framework, CoRe(content representation).
